Kaley
by Formation Church

Kaley’s story is one of learning to hear God’s voice, leave behind what harms, and find healing through spiritual community. Her journey reveals that transformation begins when we let God meet us in both our questions and our relationships.

Hearing God’s Voice in the Journey

Kaley’s spiritual journey is a beautiful picture of what it means to seek and find God in real life—in struggle, in community, and in quiet moments of discovery. Like many who grow up hearing about faith, she longed for something she could see and feel—a tangible assurance that God was truly there.

During her high school years, that longing deepened into a season of searching. She wrestled with anxiety and perfectionism, feeling the weight of wanting to get life “right.” Yet, even in the uncertainty, she began to ask honest questions: What does it mean to know God personally? How do I know He’s really with me?

A turning point came in December 2024 when she heard Pastor Shea Takazono share about the spiritual realm—the unseen reality of God’s presence and purpose. For the first time, Kaley began to see that faith isn’t about achieving perfection but about receiving love. She came to understand that her identity is secure in Christ, even on the days when she struggles to love herself. That realization marked the beginning of her freedom from the cycle of anxiety and self-doubt.

She describes her walk with God as climbing Koko Crater—a steep, uneven trail that demands endurance and grace. Sometimes you slip, sometimes you rest, but if you keep climbing, you find that the Spirit is there, meeting you on every step.

Along the way, God also gave Kaley wisdom to recognize unhealthy relationships and environments that drained her soul. She learned that when love is conditional or self-serving, it’s okay to walk away. True healing begins when you see your worth through God’s eyes, not through the approval or absence of others.

And through it all, God surrounded her with people who loved her well. Her Step1 Group—including Aunty Sally, Aunty JoAnn, and John Morimoto—became a safe and prayer-filled community. Simply being in their presence made her feel seen, known, and loved. She calls Aunty Claudine her “prayer warrior,” whose check-ins, encouragements, and texts of Scripture have carried her through hard days.

This is what the Church is meant to be—a multi-generational family of believers, walking together through life’s highs and lows. Kaley’s story reminds us that transformation rarely happens in isolation; it happens in community, when we allow others to walk beside us as we grow in Christ.

Today, Kaley continues to seek God’s voice with a humble and open heart. She’s learning that His presence isn’t limited to grand revelations—it’s found in the stillness, in the Word, and in the people He sends along the way. And in those moments, she discovers again and again that God has been with her all along, leading her toward peace, freedom, and life in Him.
