This felt like a long week. There were two very important meetings this week that required a fair amount of preparation and collaboration. Then, I received some really bad news about one of my businesses that will result in significant lost revenue during the holiday season rush. Timing is awful. I also spent time supporting two local business owners and had to deliver some difficult news based on my assessment. Their road to a sustainably profitable business is severely challenged and their timeframe to turn things around is short. I felt defeated. There was a malaise and tiredness throughout the week.
Monday evening a business school friend’s flight from California to China was redirected to Honolulu due to an on-board emergency. This allowed me to spend time with him on Tuesday morning during my Sabbath. It was a terrific time to reconnect with my friend, catch-up on family, somewhat on work, but mostly life in general. So even in the unforeseen redirects in life, God can bless us. Time really is our most valuable commodity and being given this gift to invest in relationships is what I have begun to treasure more and more. How about you?
