Anne’s story is about belonging, family, and purpose. From childhood faith to spiritual gifting, she’s discovered that life in community shapes us, sustains us, and reveals how God’s presence continues to work through us for the good of others.

Rooted and Rising: Passing Down a Living Faith

Anne’s journey with faith began through a simple invitation. In third grade, her best friend encouraged her to visit Moanalua Gardens Missionary Church. It took two years of gentle persistence before she finally agreed, hoping for relief from the frightening dreams that troubled her nights. When she began attending, something remarkable happened—the nightmares stopped. Surrounded by stories, songs, crafts, and caring people, she found peace and joy in a place that felt like home.

Later, when Anne’s parents separated and divorced during her high school years, the church became more than a place of worship—it became her refuge. She often spent time at the home of JoAnn Morimoto, whose warmth and hospitality reflected the love of a spiritual family. In those formative years, Anne learned that faith grows strongest in the context of community—through shared meals, conversations, and care that go beyond Sunday mornings.

Now as an adult, Anne continues to live out those same values in her own family. Together with her husband, Jimmy, she works to nurture intentional moments of connection. Whether through shared meals, prayer, or simple presence, Anne sees these rhythms as sacred spaces where God’s love is practiced and passed on. Amid the noise and pace of modern life, she finds that family time becomes a form of worship—a reminder that the good life God offers is one built on love, gratitude, and togetherness.

Anne’s story also holds a deeper dimension—an awakening to spiritual gifts. Over time, she began noticing moments when she sensed things before they were spoken. Once, she felt someone’s headache before learning they were in pain. After praying, the pain disappeared. In another instance, she knew a patient was pregnant before the patient did—and even sensed the child would be a girl. These experiences humbled her, not because they made her special, but because they reminded her that the Spirit moves in ways beyond understanding.

In her clinic, Anne has even set aside a small area as “holy ground,” where shoes come off and prayer begins. For her, it’s not superstition—it’s sacred expectation. It’s an act of honoring God’s presence in the ordinary, trusting that healing and hope can happen anywhere He’s invited.

Anne’s journey continues with one guiding question: “What does the Spirit want me to do with my gift to glorify Him?” She knows the gifts we’re given are not for personal gain, but for the good of others—to serve, to heal, to remind people that they are seen and loved.

Her story reminds us that belonging to a faith community isn’t just about attendance—it’s about becoming part of God’s living work in the world, one life and one act of love at a time.
