Guilt.
As I sit, enjoying the morning sunrise and the gentle sounds of the stream and birds, a pang of guilt creeps in. I know that Tammi—along with so many others around the world—is already at work, commuting, or heading to school. For a moment, I wonder: Should I be doing more?
But then, I remember: Honoring the Sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments. To treat it as a mere luxury is to misunderstand its purpose.
I’ve come to cherish my Sabbath, yet I recognize that it is not about comfort. In a performance-driven culture, rest can feel indulgent, even unearned. But Sabbath is not an escape from responsibility—it is a surrender to God. It is not just a day off; it is a sacred discipline, an act of worship, a time to realign my heart with Him.
So today, I choose to rest—not out of selfishness, but in faithful obedience.
The Lord works through all things, including those who may not yet know Him. If we desire to see people drawn into a relationship with Jesus, we must first build relationships with them ourselves.
The phrase “caught more than taught” reminds us that faith is often demonstrated before it is explained. There will be a time for words, but first, we must show Jesus’ love—through our actions, our kindness, and our presence in people’s lives.
Genuine relationships create space for God to move, softening hearts and drawing them closer to Him.
Spending time in Scripture and my Sabbath readings this week has been another incredible experience with the Lord. I know that one day I will share more in a Sunday message, but for now, I wanted to capture a thought that stood out to me in my journal.
It’s fascinating to connect Romans 1 with the Ten Commandments. Paul was speaking to an audience deeply familiar with God’s law, and his words resonate with that foundation.
As I reflected, I wrote something that, for me, encapsulates the heart of spiritual formation:
“Who we are is experienced through how we live our lives. This is caught through our relationships with others, naturally creating opportunities to teach the truth of The Good Life found in Christ Jesus.”
May God continue to reveal Himself to us through His Word.
