Remarkably, the resistance to Sabbath, Solitude, Prayer, and Fasting has been less and less as these practices work into my weekly routine.
Lots of thoughts were flowing during my Sabbath, primarily centered on the goodness of God as I reflect on the past week of moving Joshua into college. Here’s what I wrote in my journal:
“I’m back! Sitting in my favorite spot in the backyard enjoying my Sabbath. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This past week and a half moving Joshua into college was truly a blessing. I thought I was going to cry with grief of Joshua moving to the mainland, but instead I feel such a peace in you. You prepared Joshua for this place and time in ways I cannot imagine. And, you prepared the move-in trip: Zina & Okuma cousins, Randy & Aracelli, Life as One Church, Michelle-Zak-baby Samuel, Jonathan Lew, Kevin & Lori, Bonne & Deb-Chloe-Sophie-Christopher, Aunty Alice, Julie @ Grey’s, IKEA for 4 hours, Target, Sanamluang, REI, Herbie Hancock at the Bowl, Steve Smith, Menefee-Libey’s at Walter’s, Brian & Corinna, 5C families from Hawaii, Eureka, 21 Choices, Recoop, Walk through the Gates, Uno Tre Otto with server McKinley, Farmer’s Market Village, Rog & Fran, Eric & Lori, Josh meet-up. Wow! Wow! Wow!”
In the solitude I feel nearest to God.
