Esther
by Formation Church

Esther’s story reminds us that vocation is not separate from faith—it’s one of the ways God draws us closer to Himself. Through every career season, she has discovered that work becomes worship when it is surrendered to Jesus and guided by His hand.

Vocation as Worship

Esther’s story is a living reflection of how God weaves spiritual formation through the work of our hands. Over the course of her career—spanning art and design, e-commerce marketing, hotel revenue management, and now data analysis—she has seen how the Lord shapes both heart and skill to draw her nearer to Him.

Many people view work and faith as separate spheres, but Esther’s journey challenges that divide. What she has learned is that vocation, when surrendered to God, is not something we compartmentalize apart from faith. Instead, it becomes one of the primary ways we experience His presence. Scripture calls us to this perspective in Colossians 3:23:

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

When we work with this posture of surrender, our labor becomes worship. Tasks that once felt routine take on new meaning. Success and failure are reframed not by performance, but by faithfulness. Every conversation, deadline, and decision can become an act of devotion when offered to Christ.

Through multiple job changes and many seasons of uncertainty, Esther has witnessed God’s personal care. She describes how, in each transition, she sensed the Lord gently leading her—sometimes through open doors, other times through stillness and waiting. Her experience echoes the promise of Psalm 32:8 (NLT):

“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

That verse has proven true again and again. Each new chapter has not been a detour, but part of God’s intentional formation. What began as creative expression has evolved into stewardship and strategy, showing that the gifts God gives us often grow into new forms of service as we trust Him with the process.

Looking back, Esther recognizes that the Lord has never been absent from her work—He’s been present in the details, shaping her patience, deepening her trust, and expanding her vision of what it means to follow Him.

Her story is a reminder that vocation is not merely what we do—it’s part of who we are becoming in Christ. When our work is infused with surrender, it transforms from a pursuit of success into a pathway of spiritual formation.

As Proverbs 3:5–6 (NLT) declares,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

For Esther, that trust has turned her vocation into worship—a daily rhythm of faith, obedience, and intimacy with the God who guides every step.
