Gentle waves at the ocean's surface
Honoring God Amid the Busyness
Where did I feel resistance?

I started my Sabbath late, again.  I was making tweaks to portion of Sermon on the Mount series and lost track of time.  I know to not be legalistic about my Sabbath, but it is a good accountability check to reflect on the purpose of the sabbath is to honor God.

Where did I feel delight?

As I’m going through the Sermon on the Mount material it occurs to me that the starting point is Identity, who experiences The Good Life. When we ended the Strongholds series at the end of last year, the way to break free of strongholds is to displace them with a strong Identity.  And I thought, in God’s divine wisdom this Sermon on the Mount series perfectly follows our Strongholds series with providing us a deeper understanding of how we are to live in freedom from strongholds in our lives.

Where did I most experience God’s nearness?

This week someone asked me about my time in Solitude with the LORD and how challenging it was for them to quietly sit with the LORD.  I mulled on this and realized that something that helps me is being in nature where I can physically see something majestic. For example, it could be looking up at the sky to see clouds moving and the sky’s colors changing as the sun rises. These are all visual reminders that we have an active God.

It was also during my Sabbath that I came up with this Spiritual Formation Model that I’m continuing to pray about and meditate on.  Please join me in praying about this.
