Again.
If the eremos—the quiet, solitary place—is where I need to go to do spiritual battle,
then just getting there is half the battle.
But how do I get there, Lord?
How do I step into the quiet when the noise around me feels relentless?
How do I enter the solitude where I can truly meet with You?
Please help me.
Guide me.
Show me how to enter the eremos with You.
Not just a place of silence— but a place of encounter.
Not just a break from noise—but a place where I can hear Your voice above all else.
Focused breathing is remarkably helpful. No matter how many times I practice it, itstill surprises me how physiologically it makes a difference.
- About five slow, measured breaths in, I feel a shift—calm begins to settle.
- By ten or twelve breaths, I feel ready.
I whisper a simple prayer: “Come, Holy Spirit.”
And then simply: “Jesus.”
There is power in the name of Jesus. And if you truly believe that— it changes how you approach using His name. It means you don’t use the name of Jesus lightly or in vain. You revere the Person and the Power that is inseparable from His name.
In Scripture, we see the power of Jesus’ name:
- Acts 3:6-8 – Healing of a man lame from birth.
- Acts 4:10 – Declaration of healing in His name.
- Acts 9:34 – Healing through His name.
- Acts 16:18 – Casting out an evil spirit.
- Mark 16:17-18 – A promise of power for His followers.
So here’s the question I felt prompted to ask:
Where would you like to see power exhibited in the name of Jesus?
I took a moment to journal.
I listed several specific situations where I long to see, in the name of Jesus:
- Miraculous healing.
- Supernatural transformation.
- Holy Spirit anointing.
How would you answer that question?
Take a moment.
Journal it.
Name it.
And in faith, claim it in the name of Jesus.
This week, God called an audible.
I had planned for Formation Church to begin the Fasting Practice on July 6th, right after our focus on the Prayer Practice. But instead, I felt a clear leading to start the Community Practice.
Why?
Because part of being Christ followers who are called to “be ready” means we must elevate Community in our lives.
This shift isn’t just a change of schedule—it’s a move of God against the radical individualism that has become rampant in our society.
It’s an intentional strike at the heart of loneliness—which is now recognized as the number one health threat in our culture.
But what is Community?
It’s more than just being in the same room.
It’s the ancient Practice of Jesus—an intentional move to know and beknown by someone.
- Church is family, and family is church.
- Even the Trinity itself is a relationship—a divine Community of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Here’s the Important Concept:
You won’t find the depth of this kind of God-centered community by just going to church on Sunday.
We must go further. We must learn to do life together.
- Sharing meals.
- Praying for one another.
- Encouraging each other.
- Walking through highs and lows side by side.
Get Ready: July 6th – The Community Practice, when we will step into something deeper—a kind of spiritual liberation for Formation Church. And I invite you to see what God is going to do.
