Chris’s story is one of surrender and second chances. Through loss, he discovered that life’s hardest seasons can become sacred invitations—to trust God more deeply, to return to community, and to live grounded in truth.
God Redeems Every Chapter: Learning to Surrender What You Can’t Fix
Chris describes his life in two parts—“Book One” and “Book Two.” The first book began smoothly. Things felt manageable, even predictable. Life wasn’t perfect, but when challenges came, Chris could fix them. That sense of control was comforting—until one day, it shattered.
In April 2009, his wife asked for a divorce. By August, he had moved out. By December, it was final. In just eight months, the story of his life changed completely. What he had built, planned, and expected came undone. For the first time, Chris faced something he couldn’t fix.
Yet, in the unraveling, God began to write something new.
Through the pain of that season, Chris realized that surrender is not defeat—it’s the beginning of transformation. In his words, “God gives and takes away.” The very circumstances that left him feeling powerless became the moments when he learned to rely on God’s strength instead of his own. His story reminds us that sometimes God allows what we cannot control so that we might discover the freedom of letting go.
One of the key lessons Chris carried forward came from his father—a simple but profound truth: “The most important thing about any church is that its teachers teach from the Bible—without adding to it or taking away from it.”
In a world filled with competing messages about spirituality, Chris came to anchor his life in this principle. The Bible, he learned, is not just one of many sources of wisdom—it is the foundation of truth itself.
Then came “Book Two.”
This new chapter has been marked by intentional community. Having experienced the isolation that came when he drifted away from church during his first marriage, Chris is determined to walk differently now. He’s learned that staying connected to a faith community is not just helpful—it’s essential. Spiritual growth doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens through shared life, accountability, and encouragement.
This time around, Chris is choosing to be present, involved, and open—to both the blessings and the challenges that come with community. He’s found that when we stay connected, God uses others to refine us, strengthen us, and remind us that we’re not walking this journey alone.
Chris’s story is ultimately one of redemption—a reminder that even after loss, God offers new beginnings. Through surrender, Scripture, and community, his life continues to be shaped by grace.
No matter how many chapters our lives hold, one truth remains: God is faithful through them all.
