God Never Gives Up on You
Daniel’s story is a living testimony that God never gives up on us—no matter how far we wander. Though he grew up in church, there came a time when he drifted away, chasing comfort, pleasure, and self-sufficiency. Faith, for a while, faded into the background. Yet even in his distance, God never stopped pursuing him.
Years later, through a workplace group at Kakaako Christian Fellowship studying The Purpose Driven Life and the simple invitation of a caring friend, God reached out again. Daniel said yes. That small act of obedience marked the beginning of a new chapter—a return not marked by guilt, but by grace. The same God who watched over him through his wandering years welcomed him back with open arms.
Today, Daniel leads a ministry serving the houseless—proof that God can redeem every chapter of our lives for His glory. The years that once felt wasted have become the soil for compassion, empathy, and service. As Daniel puts it, “When I was ready, God met me there.” And that truth holds for all of us: God’s grace is patient, personal, and persistent. He never stops pursuing His children.
As God has restored Daniel’s faith, He has also reshaped how Daniel loves others—especially his daughter, who now lives on the mainland. For years, Daniel’s first question to her was always the same: “Are you going to church?” It came from care, but the Holy Spirit gently convicted him to listen before speaking. Now, his first question is different: “How are you?” or “What’s going on in your life?” That simple shift—from correction to connection—has changed everything.
Daniel realized that love must come before advice and relationship before rebuke. His daughter, like so many of us, needed to feel seen and valued before being told what to do. It’s the way Jesus met people—seeing them before speaking truth into their lives. Daniel’s growth as a father mirrors that same pattern of grace: patient, personal, and rooted in love.
Through his ongoing formation, Daniel has also discovered that spiritual practices take time. Meeting weekly with Pastor Dave, he’s been learning to practice Sabbath, Solitude, Prayer, Scripture, and Fasting. These rhythms haven’t come easily—but they’ve come honestly. They’ve revealed that transformation doesn’t happen overnight; it’s formed slowly through consistent surrender.
For Daniel and the leaders in his church, this process has been both humbling and liberating. Spiritual growth isn’t about performance; it’s about presence. God doesn’t demand perfection—He invites us to take the next faithful step. And every time we do, He meets us right there, shaping our hearts into the likeness of His Son.
Daniel’s journey reminds us that no matter how far we go, God never stops writing the story. His grace is patient enough to wait, powerful enough to restore, and personal enough to transform our lives—one surrendered step at a time.
