Kalyn’s story is a powerful testament to redemption. From years of pain and isolation, she discovered that experiencing Jesus—through the Holy Spirit, community, and abiding faith—can heal what was once broken and turn hardship into fruitfulness.

Experiencing Jesus Beyond Sundays

For years, Kalyn attended church faithfully every Sunday. She showed up, sang the songs, listened to the messages—but something was missing. Her faith felt more like a routine than a relationship. That began to change the moment she truly experienced Jesus.

It started one Good Friday during a worship service when the Holy Spirit met her in a deeply personal way. She could feel His presence—real, alive, and close. It was the beginning of transformation, not through religion or ritual, but through relationship.

That experience sparked a new rhythm in her spiritual life. She began to observe Sabbath and practice Solitude—setting aside time to rest, reflect, and listen for God’s voice. She also began reading from her grandmother’s Bible, a sacred connection that grounded her in Scripture and reminded her that faith is generational, personal, and alive. Through these rhythms, Kalyn began to “feel” Jesus walking with her daily. Romans 8:5–9 came alive: her mind was no longer set on the flesh, but on the Spirit who gives life and peace.

But Kalyn’s story isn’t just about spiritual awakening—it’s also about healing from pain. She knows firsthand the damage of control and abuse. Having survived an abusive relationship that left her isolated and alone, she learned that isolation is one of the enemy’s strongest tools. People who control seek to separate; God, by contrast, draws us into community.

Through Scripture and experience, Kalyn came to understand that community is not optional—it’s God’s design. Hebrews 10:25 urges believers not to give up meeting together, because it’s in community that we encourage and build one another up. Kalyn’s rediscovery of belonging has brought her strength and restoration—reminding her that faith is meant to be lived together, not alone.

Her story also reveals one of the most beautiful truths of God’s character: He never wastes a hurt. Each hardship, each heartbreak, has been redeemed with purpose. Kalyn endured years of pain—being kicked out of her home at 18, surviving abusive marriages, and walking through seasons of deep loss. But today, she can see how God used it all to prepare her for something better.

Now, she and her fiancé, Chris, study the Bible together regularly and are preparing for their upcoming marriage—a relationship rooted in encouragement, faith, and mutual respect. “I think God brought me through those bad relationships,” she says, “so that I can appreciate someone like Chris even more.”

Kalyn’s life is living proof of Romans 5:3–4: “We rejoice in our sufferings, because suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Through every valley, she has learned to abide in Christ.

And as Jesus promised in John 15:5, when we abide in Him, we bear much fruit. Life hasn’t been easy, but for Kalyn—and for all who follow Christ—with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
