Reflection Sunday
“17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John 3: 17-18, NIV

It’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on our journey to-date, now that we’ve gone through the spiritual disciplines of Fasting, Sabbath, Solitude, and Prayer. My strong encouragement is to keep going. You’re not going to easily adopt any of these Practices on the first-go.

Don’t give up.

Don’t condemn yourself for not practicing exactly as you had hoped. Understanding just how challenging this is, I intend to make these four Practices, plus an additional five, an on-going series that we’ll practice together at the same time each year as a type of liturgy (a regular ritual), not to be “religious,” rather to grow our spiritual muscles as we follow Christ Jesus.

The foundation of everything we do and how we live at KCF in following Jesus will incorporate three things: Scripture, Practices, and Spirit. Being rooted in the Word is nothing new for us at KCF. With these Practices we’re growing our spiritual muscles, for we are what we repeatedly do. In making these practices a part of our daily lives we become formed by them and we better reflect Jesus himself. So, keep at it!
