Exploring the meaning behind our existence.
by Pastor David Oyadomari
“If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has
no meaning.”
C.S. LEWIS
Question
Why does life matter?
Reflection
If we believe that life came from nothing, then making meaning about life is something that we invent. Some say that the probability of life happening by chance is a possibility, and scientists and philosophers have long observed the remarkable order of our universe. If that is so, then life must have been designed — and with that design, there is intention
In the end, life matters because there is a purpose behind the design. Having a design implies purpose, and purpose changes everything.
C. S. Lewis once wrote, “If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning.” The very fact that we ask why life matters suggests that it does.
So perhaps the deeper question is not only Why does life matter? but Who gave it meaning in the first place?
If there is an intelligent Creator, then every heartbeat and every breath carries the imprint of intention. We are not accidents of time — we are participants in purpose.
Takeaway
Life matters because we were made with meaning.
We matter because we are part of something designed — something purposeful, something personal.
Discovering Who gave life meaning may be the beginning of discovering why your life truly matters.
